Help with the ourbrisbane.com Movie guide and personalisation

If this list does not answer a query you have, please contact us.

Important changes: May 2007

ourbrisbane.com has made several changes to our TV and Movies information.

It is no longer necessary to visit a specific "channel preferences" or "cinema preferences" page to personalise your choices for next time. These are saved automatically after each time you use the TV Guide or Movie Session search forms.

Personalisation

What's ourbrisbane.com Movie guide all about?

Together with movie releases, reviews, news and gossip, the ourbrisbane.com Movie Guide displays details of movie session times in Brisbane cinemas. This information is collected weekly from cinema chains and independent movie houses.

The ourbrisbane.com movie guide is set up to be personalised by you to present the cinemas most relevant to you, using cookies to record your preferences and customise the display each time you visit.

Content is supplied to ourbrisbane.com by HWW.

Where's my favourite cinema?

ourbrisbane.com movie content is optimised for the Brisbane and surrounding districts. From the Movie Session Times search page, you can select as many cinemas as you wish.

If your preferred cinema is not on the list for a selected region, check the regions nearby.

Note that some cinemas are seasonal and only operate at certain times of the year, and that some cinemas are only open on certain days of the week.

If you've checked carefully and the name of the cinema you frequent is not listed at ourbrisbane.com movie guide, contact us with as much detail as you can and we'll make every effort to include it.

ourbrisbane.com movie guide does not exclude any commercial cinema screening mainstream, independent or arthouse movies to the general public. ourbrisbane.com movie guide does not, however, list cinemas that screen only or mainly erotic or pornographic movies. Cinemas are not charged to participate and actively benefit from being listed. Do what you can to encourage your cinema to be listed.

Why doesn't my favourite cinema have any movies listed?

If a cinema is listed but there are no session times displayed for movies screening at that cinema, the most likely reason is that the cinema has not supplied us with details of its weekly programming schedule. The ourbrisbane.com movie guide relies on cinemas to tell us which movies are screening when, and while we actively encourage every cinema every week, sometimes cinemas don't get their program to us as quickly as we'd like.

Most cinemas program their schedules on a weekly basis, usually running from Thursday to Wednesday, and most have their session times listed in the ourbrisbane.com movie guide in time for the weekend. If your favourite cinema's session times are not listed, it's always worth checking back later to see if they have been added. Sometimes, despite repeated reminders, some cinemas fail to get their information to us at all.

Why can't I see past Wednesday?

If you visit ourbrisbane.com movie guide on a Wednesday morning, you might only see listings for that day. If you visit ourbrisbane.com movie guide on a Thursday morning, however, you will typically see all sessions for the coming week. This is because most cinemas program their schedules for Thursday to Wednesday and supply them late Wednesday.

Can I block out R-rated movies?

At the moment, you can't search by movie rating, but this is a feature we're looking into for the future. We show information about the movie, but do not display trailers or previews of any movies, including R-rated ones. Movie classifications are listed on each movie's page via our "Movies and Reviews" section, or follow the links from the Session Times.

Individual The classification is clearly displayed for each movie. It is the responsibility of the cinema to ensure that entry is not granted to under-age patrons. The classifications are:

  • G: General Exhibition
  • PG: Parental Guidance Recommended
  • M: Mature - adult supervision is recommended for viewers under 15
  • MA: Mature Adult - an adult must accompany viewers under 15
  • R: Restricted - viewers must be 18 or over

Some movies have not yet received a rating from the Australian Film Classification Board when they are listed at ourbrisbane.com movie guide. ourbrisbane.com movie guide does not list movies with an X rating, as these are not accepted for screening at cinemas aimed at the general public.

What about my own reviews?

ourbrisbane.com has, in the past, sourced movie reviews via our content supplier, HWW. We hope to add the ability for ourbrisbane.com members to add reviews to movie pages in the near future.

Why doesn't this movie have a description?

We make every effort to obtain and provide to you detailed information about every movie listed. We are not always able to - or not as quickly as we'd like. Information is added to the movie guide constantly, including descriptive details of movies.

Generally, ourbrisbane.com movie guide does not provide descriptive details for double features, triple features or movie marathons. Instead, look for the individual films listed in our Movies and Reviews section.

Why wasn't the movie on when and where you said?

We rely on the information provided by cinemas about which movies are screening when and where. While larger chains often provide their details from their head office, smaller cinemas tend to update us themselves. In both cases, information is usually provided according to the Thursday to Wednesday programming format favoured by most Australian cinemas. Cinemas can, will and do make late programming changes to their schedules for a number of reasons, and when they advise us of these changes, the information can be used to update the movie guide display.

Why is that cinema listed under that name?

We generally use the cinema name that the cinema has requested us to use. We acknowledge that this may not be the name by which you know a particular cinema, but the information displayed should help you to locate any cinema quickly and easily.

Why is that movie listed under that name?

We generally uses the name of the movie as used by the cinema supplying the screening details. This is checked against resources including the film distributor, official websites and online trailers. We aim to use the name you will see on the screen at the cinema.

How much are tickets?

ourbrisbane.com does not at present display ticketing information for specific movie sessions as ticket prices vary and cinemas may offer special prices from time to time. We advise you to ring the cinema on the telephone number provided to check on ticket prices.

Why do you publish session times that are incorrect?

We rely on information supplied to us by cinemas and film distributors. Sometimes, screening schedules change without us being advised. We do everything we can to prevent this, including daily checks, but incorrect session times do sometimes slip through. That's partly why we advise you to check details with the cinema in question.

What does "Babes in Arms" mean?

Babes in Arms screenings are especially for parents with babies likely to cry during the movie. Parents can take their children to these films without the worry of disturbing other patrons.
